Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is all set to embark on the second phase of the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Named the Bharat Nyay Yatra, the yatra will begin on 14 January in Manipur and conclude on 20 March in Mumbai. Notably, the first Bharat Jodo Yatra covered a distance of about 4,500 miles and went from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. The latest one, under Gandhi’s leadership, aims to promote economic, social, and political justice across the country. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will flag off the yatra in Manipur. The party will cover a distance of 6,200 kilometres and will include both bus and foot travel. Covering 14 states and 85 districts, the route will be – Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. As the grand-old party gears up for a new yatra, here’s a look at past political yatras in Indian history.
