Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP’s) Atishi will be Delhi’s new chief minister. Arvind Kejriwal, who is out on bail in the excise policy case, submitted his resignation to Delhi LG VK Saxena on Tuesday (September 17), paving the way for Atishi to become the third woman CM of the National Capital, after Congress’ Sheila Dikshit and the BJP’s Sushma Swaraj.
After being picked by the AAP MLAs as the new Delhi CM, she thanked her “guru” Kejriwal for trusting her. At 43, she will be the youngest chief minister of the National Capital. The ascension of the 43-year-old to the top post does not come as a surprise. After Kejriwal’s arrest in March, Atishi emerged as one of the most visible party leaders.
Here’s a look at the meteoric rise of Atishi through graphics.
