Today is a big day. The whole of India is eagerly waiting to witness the moment when the Ram Lalla will be positioned in the Ram Mandir temple. Standing at 161 feet and spanning over 28,000 square feet, it is India’s largest temple, designed by the Ahmedabad-based Sompura family . Every detail is carefully carved, keeping in mind Vastu Shastra and Shilpa Shastras, and following Nagara-style architecture. While the ground floor depicts Lord Ram ’s birth and childhood, the first floor illustrates Lord Ram’s Darbar. The entire temple is constructed without the use of steel and iron, with just stone. The ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries. Devotees are invited to attend the event virtually by organising live telecasts across the country. After the consecration ceremony, the temple will be open for devotees from 24 January. Ahead of the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony, here’s a look at the interesting things you need to know about the Ram temple.
