The Israeli military is retaliating for the Hamas attack with near-constant airstrikes. On Thursday, the Israeli military pounded the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip with airstrikes and continued to obstruct delivery of food, water, fuel, and electricity, as Palestinians scrambled to stock up on supplies ahead of a possible ground invasion . Israel said nothing will be permitted into Gaza until Hamas released roughly 150 detainees captured during an unprecedented surprise attack on Israel on Saturday that also killed hundreds. While Israel claims to be hitting Hamas targets, numerous civilians in the besieged Gaza Strip have been killed. Israeli forces also pounded on airports in Damascus and Aleppo. Hospitals and United Nations shelters have also been hit. Let’s take a closer look. Relentless retaliation Israel has vowed to “crush” Hamas after gunmen from the Palestinian Islamist group stormed across the border and killed 1,200 people — the deadliest attack on the country since it was founded 75 years ago.
