With dreams of building a future for her family and herself, 23-year-old Rajyalakshmi (Raji)Yarlagadda, daughter of Ramakrishna and Nagamani, had moved to the United States to pursue her Master’s degree in Computer Science. After completing her MS course, she was actively seeking opportunities.
On the morning of November 7, the Andhra Pradesh student did not wake up when her alarm went off. Rajyalakshmi had been battling with a severe cough and chest pain for the last two to three days before her sudden death. She had also informed her parents about the same.
In fact, the previous night, Rajyalakshmi reportedly told her parents that she had scheduled a doctor’s appointment for November 9. However, she passed away the same night.
But, the question remains, did Rajyalakshmi die due to cough and chest pain? If not, then what’s the exact cause of her death?

Battling an unbearable cough and chest pain for the past few days, the 23-year-old had never thought that her usual chat with her parents would be her last one.
According to her cousin, Chaitanya YVK, Rajyalakshmi had been suffering from a severe cough and chest discomfort for three days.
On the morning of November 7, her friends discovered that she had passed away in her sleep. After knowing about her untimely death, her family members were inconsolable, mourning the tragic loss.

“She was a bright, hopeful soul”
Chaitanya said that Rajyalakshmi came to the United States with big dreams of achieving personal and professional success.
“She wanted to build a better future for her family, who depend on their small farmland in Karmechedu of Bapatla in Andhra Pradesh,” he said.
“Rajyalakshmi was a bright, hopeful soul who wanted to help her parents continue their farming journey,” Chaitanya furthered.
The family’s primary livelihood was farmland, crops and livestock. As the youngest member in the house, Rajyalakshmi’s mission was to support her parents financially once she commenced her professional journey.
The pall of grief hangs heavy over the family now as they face financial hardship as well.
What’s expected next?
As the shocking incident unfolds, the Indian community in Texas has extended their full support to expedite the repatriation process, and the Indian consulate is expected to assist with formalities.
A medical examination is currently underway in the US to ascertain the key cause of the untimely death of the Andhra Pradesh student.
TDP MLA from Parchur, Yeluri Sambasiva Rao, also expressed his condolences to the grieving family, assuring that all necessary assistance would be extended by the state government to bring her body back home for the final rites.
Meanwhile, Chaitanya has also launched a GoFundMe raiser from Denton, Texas, with the objective of raising funds to cover funeral expenses and transportation of her body to India.
He has appealed to friends and well-wishers to contribute a small donation that can provide some financial support to her parents.
