Zohran Mamdani, the young, Indian-origin, Muslim has done it! At 34, he’s become the Big Apple’s mayor, shaking up American politics.
The New York City mayor-elect built his platform around a simple premise: America’s largest city is far too expensive, and he’s going to make it more affordable. And it seems that his campaign resonated with a large group of New Yorkers.
However, winning the mayoral race is only the beginning for Mamdani. The Democrat Socialist, as he likes to describe himself, as a mountain of challenges to overcome — almost all of them are focused on lowering costs for New Yorkers and shrinking the wealth gap in the city.
