Donald Trump is set to sign a flurry of executive orders after being sworn in as President of the United States.

Trump, who will be the 47th President of the United States, has vowed to ‘make heads spin’ after he returns to the Oval Office.

People in the know say Trump is likely to sign over 50 executive orders – maybe even more than 100 on the first day of his second term.

But what do we know?

Let’s take a closer look:

TikTok

Trump’s executive order on TikTok would arguably the most eagerly awaited one for many – particularly the youth.

As per BBC, Trump has vowed to issue an executive order that delays TikTok being banned in the United States.

Ironically, it was Trump himself who during his first term issued an executive order banning TikTok – which was later blocked by the court.

The US Congress in April passed a bill giving ByteDance nine months to sell TikTok or face a ban.

The bill was then quickly signed into law by President Joe Biden.

The US Supreme Court over the weekend upheld the law 9-0.

Immigration

As per BBC, Trump during the election vowed to carry out the “largest deportation program in American history.”

Fox News reported that Trump will likely declare a national border emergency on the US-Mexico border. He will also order the military to help secure the crossing.

As per NBC, Trump will likely end a government policy barring immigration raids on churches and schools.

He is also likely to  order the border shuttered on health grounds.

“You’re going to see executive orders that are going to make [you] extremely happy, lots of them. … We have to set our country on the proper course,” Trump was quoted as saying on Sunday.

“By the time the sun sets tomorrow evening, the invasion of our borders will have come to a halt, and all the illegal border trespassers will in some form or another, be on their way back home.”

BBC reported that Trump may also issue an executive order to try and finish his border wall with Mexico.

As per Economic Times, the “Remain in Mexico” policy –  which returned 70,000 asylum seekers to Mexico while awaiting hearings – may also witness a comeback via executive action.

Reuters previously reported that the executive actions would give federal immigration officers more latitude to arrest people with no criminal records.

He is also likely to designate drug cartels as “foreign terrorist organisations” – placing them alongside Al Qaeda, the Islamic State and Hamas.

Trump also said he would issue an order ending birthright citizenship for those born to parents who are in the country illegally.

However, it remains unclear how he would do this as it is enshrined in the US Constitution.

Trump also plans to end temporary “parole” programs, which under President Joe Biden’s outgoing administration have allowed hundreds of thousands of migrants from certain countries to enter legally on humanitarian grounds and access work permits, as per Reuters.

Tariffs

Trump has vowed to go big on tariffs.

As per Al Jazeera, Trump has vowed to create an “external revenue service” on day 1 of his new administration which would “collect our tariffs, duties, and all revenue that come from foreign sources”.

Trump, remember, has called for a tariff of up to 60 per cent on Chinese products as well as a tariff of up to 25 percent on Mexico and Canada.

Climate change

As per NBC, Trump is likely to issue an executive order rescinding funding for climate-related provisions of Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act.

As per Al Jazeera, Trump previously said he will undo an executive order from Biden to ban offshore drilling.

He also said he would kill Biden’s “electric vehicle mandate” – which sets higher emissions standards for automakers.

He is also likely to roll back executive orders that have to do with the Paris Climate agreement, lifting restrictions on fossil fuel production.

“I want to close the border, and I want to drill, drill, drill,” Trump was quoted as saying at a rally.

Trump previously called climate change a ‘hoax’ perpetrated by the Chinese.

Roll back trans sights

As per Al Jazeera, Trump had vowed to ban trans women from women’s sports.

He said he would halt “transgender lunacy” and ban gender-affirming care for minors.

“On day one, I will revoke Joe Biden’s cruel policies on so-called gender-affirming care,” Trump had said. “I will sign a new executive order instructing every federal agency to cease all programmes that promote the concept of sex and gender transition at any age.”

Federal employees

As per NBC,  Trump has vowed to restore the “Schedule F” policy he imposed at the end of his first time.

The move allows him to redesignate thousands of government jobs – smoothening the way to fill them with political appointees.

Trump has also said he would likely sign an executive order mandating federal employees to return to working in offices.

DEI

Trump has vowed to take aim at “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” (DEI) programmes across the country.

As per BBC, Trump could target schools or other institutions that have DEI programmes by withholding federal funds. He could also do the same for schools that teach “critical race theory” (CRT).

Muslim ban 2.0

As per Al Jazeera, Trump has vowed to implement a new version of his Muslim ban.

The outlet quoted Trump as saying he would “suspend refugee admissions, stop the resettlement and keep the terrorists the hell out of our country.”

“We will ban refugee resettlement from terror-infested areas like the Gaza Strip, and we will seal our border and bring back the travel ban,” Trump said in September. “Remember the famous travel ban? We didn’t take people from certain areas of the world because I didn’t want to have people ripping down and burning our shopping centres and killing people.”

Pardon Jan 6 rioters

Trump is also expected to pardon his supporters who were arrested by law enforcement agencies for their role in the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Trump previously referred to these people, several of them convicted criminals, as ‘political prisoners’ and ‘hostages.’

Deregulate industry

Trump has vowed to deregulate a whole host of industries, as per Al Jazeera.

“On day one, I will sign an executive order directing every federal agency to immediately remove every single burdensome regulation driving up the costs of goods,” Trump said as per the website.

“It’s going to be the largest regulatory reduction in the history of our country, and it’s going to happen very fast,” he added.
