The world leaders have gathered in Dubai for the COP28 summit, Malaysia is granting 30-day visa-free entry to Indian and Chinese nations, Brazil will take over G20 presidency from India, there’s a Global Ayurveda festival to be held in Kerala… and a lot more happening in the world. Here are some big news expected today. Global leaders at COP28 Prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Britain’s King Charles III, UK PM Rishi Sunak, are attending the crucial annual climate change summit, COP28, in Dubai. US vice president Kamala Harris will also be present at the global summit after President Joe Biden backed out. King Charles is set to deliver an address at the opening ceremony of the summit. India hands over G20 presidency to Brazil Brazil takes over the G20 presidency from India and will hold the 2024 summit in Rio de Janeiro in November next year. President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said the country will focus on reducing hunger and poverty, slowing climate change and global governance reform. Malaysia offers 30-day visa-free entry Citizens of India and China will be granted visa-free entry to Malaysia for 30 days starting today, Malaysian prime minister Anwar Ibrahim announced during a speech at the People’s Justice Party congress. This is because China and India are Malaysia’s fourth and fifth-largest tourist markets. As per government data, between January and June this year, the Southeast Asian country welcomed a total of 9.16 million tourists. Of these, 498,540 were from China, and 283,885 were from India.   • The Supreme court on 31 October deferred till 1 December the hearing of the bail plea of suspended Jharkhand cadre IAS office Pooja Singhal, an accused in a money laundering case. The matter was adjourned by a three-judge bench headed by Justice SK Kaul, while noting that three crucial witness, who worked under Singhal, were to be examined on 23 November.

  • The Bombay High Court will pronounce its verdict on a bunch of petitions challenging the Rule 3(I)(II)(C) of the IT Amendment Rules, 2023, which empowered the government to identify “fake news” about it on social media through Fact Check Unit (FCU).
