Trump-Xi meet in Beijing

US President Donald Trump will hold a bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, in South Korea’s Busan today. The two leaders are expected to speak on topics ranging from bilateral relations to issues of mutual interest, including trade and tariffs, the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and rare earth metals among others, stated the Chinese foreign ministry.

Chinese Spokesperson Guo Jiakun told a regular press briefing that the head of state diplomacy plays an irreplaceable strategic guiding role in China-US relations. According to a report by China’s Xinhua News, the two heads of state will have in-depth communication on strategic and long-term issues concerning China-US relations, as well as major issues of common concern, Guo said.

“We are willing to make joint efforts with the US side to work for positive outcomes of this meeting, which will provide new guidance and impetus for the stable development of bilateral relations,” Guo said.

India is set to conduct a major tri-combat service exercise today along its western frontier, near the Pakistan border. The exercise has been named ‘Trishul’.

Since it is a tri-combat service, all three branches of the Indian Armed Forces - the Indian Army, the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force - will be participating in the exercise.

The 10-day exercise will begin from October 30 to November 10. It will take place in Sir Creek, near the Pakistan border in Gujarat’s Rann of Kutch region. India has issued a notice to air missions (NOTAM) for large parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Earlier, lawyers representing Tyler Robinson appealed that no cameras be allowed during the proceedings. Robinson, if found guilty, could get the death penalty, and lawyers are now asking the judge to limit media coverage of the high-profile trial.

The Utah County Sheriff’s Office had asked the 4th District Court Judge to bar any further photography or video coverage of further proceedings, Robinson’s attorneys revealed in the filing, while agreeing with the request.

Australia v India: 2025 World Cup semi-final

The Indian Women’s Cricket team is set to face the Australian team for the second match of the semi-final of the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup. The match will take place at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. This highly anticipated clash will decide who joins England in the grand finale of the tournament.

Both teams have been exceptional throughout the competition. India, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, have displayed grit and consistency, while Alyssa Healy’s Australia continue to dominate with their trademark aggression and depth. The pitch is generally balanced but tends to assist spinners as the game progresses, which could benefit India’s spin-heavy bowling attack. Expect a pitch where building partnerships and tactical bowling will be key to winning the match.
