Trump expected to visit LA
US President Donald Trump is likely to visit disaster-hit Los Angeles on Friday to survey the damage from the Palisades and Eaton fires.
This will be his first trip since returning to office as the 47th president of the US on Monday.
During a rally in Washington on Sunday, Trump said that he is praying for the survivors of the wildfires and will help rebuild the city “more beautiful” than ever before.
Yogi to address election rally in Milkipur
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will address an election rally in the bypoll-bound Milkipur assembly seat today.
This will be his first rally in the temple town after the announcement of the election notification for Milkipur earlier this month.
Bypoll is due on February 5 and the results will be announced on February 8.
Waqf panel meeting
The Joint Parliamentary Panel (JPC) on Waqf Amendment Bill will hold a clause-by-clause discussion of the proposed law on January 24 and 25.
This comes despite the opposition demanding that the sessions by postponed by a week as the MPs did not get the required time to collect evidence and peruse material to finalise their arguments.
BJP has dubbed the plea as a delaying tactic.
Delhi HC to hear CAG reply after PIL seeks to make reports public
The Delhi High Court will hear the stand of the comptroller and auditor general of India (CAG) on a PIL seeking its 14 reports on city administration to be made public.
Brij Mohan, a retired civil servant, who filed the PIL said the voters in Delhi must be aware of the state of affairs in the capital and its financial health before they cast their votes in the upcoming assembly polls.
Farmers’ national general body meeting to be held in Delhi
A meeting of the general body of Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) will be held in New Delhi on January 24. Further agitational programmes and action plans are also likely to be announced.
The group, which led the 2020-21 farmers’ protests against the three non-repealed farm laws, is also considered the Centre’s proposal of talks with farmers as a great victory.

MP cabinet meeting to be held in Maheshwar
The cabinet meeting of the Madhya Pradesh government will be held in Maheshwar in Khargone district on January 24 as a tribute to Lokmata Ahilyabai, the queen of the Holkar dynasty.
Maheshwar, located on the banks of the Narmada River, is around 290 kilometres from Bhopal and is known for its forts.
Indian football team to participate in Mandiri U20 Challenge Series
The India U20 men’s team will participate in the Mandiri U20 Challenge Series 2025 in Indonesia from today.
The series is a four-nation friendly tournament, with other teams being Syria, Jordan, and host Indonesia.
India will begin the tournament with a match against Syria today, followed by Jordan on January 27 and Indonesia on January 30.
