PM Modi to lay foundation stone of 550 Amrit Bharat stations
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today lay the foundation stone of 550 Amrit Bharat stations to improve facilities at railway stations by developing rooftop plazas and city centres at a cost of Rs 40,000 crore. The prime minister will also lay the foundation stone of nearly 1,500 road overbridges and underbridges across different states during a function that will be conducted virtually at over 2,000 railway stations, officials said.
The prime minister will join the function via videoconferencing.
The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme was launched for the development of stations on Indian Railways.
It involves the preparation of master plans and their implementation in phases to improve amenities at the stations through improvement of station access, circulating areas, waiting halls, toilets, lift/escalators as necessary, cleanliness, free WiFi, kiosks for local products through schemes such as ‘One Station, One Product’, better passenger information systems.
SKM to hold tractor march nationwide
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of 37 farm unions, will take out a tractor march today and organise a farmers’ mahapanchayat in the national capital on 14 March.
The SKM said that the tractor march will be carried out on all state and national highways across the country in support of their demands, including guaranteed MSP on all crops and debt waiver.
Rahul Gandhi to deliver lectures at UK’s Cambridge University
Rahul Gandhi will take a break from the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra and deliver two special lectures at his alma mater, Cambridge University.

K Kavitha summoned by CBI in Delhi liquor policy case
BRS leader K Kavitha, daughter of Telangana’s former Chief Minister KCR, has been summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.
This is the second time that the Telangana politician will be questioned by the central agency. She was earlier questioned by the CBI at her home in Hyderabad in December 2022.
Palestinian factions to meet in Moscow
Moscow plans to host unity talks between all Palestinian factions, including Hamas, today, Palestinian Authority prime minister Mohammed Shtayyeh said earlier, as he called for unilateral statehood recognition as a prerequisite to peace talks.
“Russia has invited all Palestinian factions who will be meeting on the 26th of this month in Moscow,” Shtayyeh told the Munich Security Conference during a public interview.
He explained that the Palestine Liberation Organisation’s invitation for Hamas to join it was a conditional one and would come into play only if the group accepted certain prerequisites.
Mobile World Congress 2024 begins
Mobile World Congress 2024 will begin today. The connectivity event is hosted by GSMA and will be organised at Barcelona, Spain. The event will go on until 29 February. The event is hosted every year and brings people from companies that deal in mobile and wireless technologies.
Tech companies including OnePlus, Honor, Xiaomi and others are expected to unveil their latest gadgets and smartphones at the event. OnePlus is expected to announce the global debut of its OnePlus Watch 2.
