The 22nd edition of the Shangri-La Dialogue will take place today in Singapore. PM Modi will be visiting Uttar Pradesh and Bihar today where he is expected to inaugurate several projects.
Meanwhile, the Sanjay Jha-led Operation Sindoor delegation will address a press conference in Indonesia’s Jakarta to spread the country’s strong stand against terrorism. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will be visiting Hong Kong today. UNSC is set to meet to discuss the situation in Ukraine.

Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore
The 22nd Shangri-La Dialogue , Asia’s premier defence summit, will begin today in Singapore. Hosted annually by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), the event brings together defence ministers, military chiefs, policymakers and strategic experts from across the globe to discuss pressing regional security challenges and formulate fresh approaches.
Some of the notable attendees include French President Emmanuel Macron, who will deliver the keynote address, Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Bin Ibrahim and US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. India’s Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan is also attending and scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with defence leaders from numerous countries, including Australia, the European Union, France and Germany among others.
PM Modi to visit Uttar Pradesh
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh today to launch the several projects. He will inaugurate, lay the foundation stone and dedicate to the nation multiple development projects worth over Rs 48,520 crore in Bihar’s Karakat. He will also lay the foundation stone for the Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project, Stage-II (3x800 MW) in Aurangabad district worth over Rs 29,930 crore.
In Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur, he will dedicate several projects to the city worth about Rs 20,900 crore. He will open the new metro line from Chunniganj Metro Station to Kanpur Central Metro Rail Project, costing over Rs 2,120 crore. He is also expected to meet the family of Shubham Dwivedi, the 31-year-old businessman from Kanpur who was among those killed in the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. hich will add 14 stations, including five underground stops near important city areas.
Operation Sindoor delegation to hold press conference
An all-party parliamentary delegation is scheduled to hold a press conference in Indonesia’s Jakarta as part of Operation Sindoor, India's diplomatic outreach campaign following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
The delegation, led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, includes members from various political parties, such as BJP’s Aparajita Sarangi, TMC’s Abhishek Banerjee, John Brittas from CPI-M and Salman Khurshid from Congress. The press conference aims to further highlight India’s stance against terrorism and seek support from international partners in combating cross-border terrorism and its sponsors.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is on a visit to Hong Kong to attend the signing ceremony of the Convention on the Establishment of the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed). This event marks the launch of the world’s first intergovernmental legal body dedicated to resolving international disputes through mediation.
The signing ceremony will take place at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Wan Chai and witness participation from senior representatives of nearly 60 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe, as well as delegates from about 20 international organisations, including the United Nations.
Unsc to discuss the situation in Ukraine
The UN Security Council (Unsc) is scheduled to hold an open briefing on the situation in Ukraine today at Russia’s request. The meeting will address “Threats to international peace and security” and focus on Russia’s claims that actions by European countries are hindering efforts towards a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
The meeting follows another briefing on Ukraine held just a day earlier requested by European members of the Council (Denmark, France, Greece, Slovenia, and the UK) to receive updates on political and humanitarian developments. Russia’s request for the meeting comes amid escalating hostilities in Ukraine, with both sides recently engaging in intense military actions and diplomatic exchanges .
