Coming to the news, the Delhi police has summoned Telangana CM Revanth Reddy in the alleged doctored video of Union minister Amit Shah being circulated on social media. The symbol loading units will be sealed and stored in a strongroom along with the EVMs at least for 45 days.

Revanth Reddy likely to appear before Delhi police in Amit Shah’s doctored video case

Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy has been summoned on 1 May by the Delhi Police in connection with the alleged doctored video of Union home minister Amit Shah being circulated on social media.

Earlier, the Assam police arrested a 31-year-old man, identified as Reetam Singh, who is believed to be the Congress’s “war room coordinator” in the north-eastern state, over his alleged involvement in making the altered video and sharing it online.

“We have issued summons to Reddy since he is also the head of TPCC and they posted the video on their X handle. We have asked him to join the probe on 1 May with his electronic devices. We want to analyse the devices and ascertain how the video was made and shared,” a senior officer said.

Symbol loading units to be sealed and stored starting today

The symbol loading units will be sealed in a container and stored in a strongroom along with the EVMs at least for 45 days post the declaration of results.

The development comes after the top court issued directions to do the same and paved the way for verification of microcontrollers embedded in EVMs on the request of candidates who stand second and third.

A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta passed the orders while terming the suspicion of manipulation of EVMs “unfounded” and rejecting the demand for reverting to the old paper ballot system.

SC hearing in post-poll violence cases

The Supreme Court will be hearing a plea filed by the West Bengal government that has accused the CBI of going ahead with its probe in post-poll violence cases without securing the prerequisite nod from the state.

Earlier, a bench consisting Justices BR Gavai and Sandeep Mehta deferred the matter after solicitor general Tushar Mehta sought adjournment, saying he has to appear before a nine-judge Constitution bench.

Florida’s six-week abortion ban to go into effect

Florida’s new law banning most abortion after six weeks of pregnancy will take effect today, dramatically restricting access in a state that recorded more than 84,000 procedures last year, including thousands of women from other states.

The change from the state’s 15-week limit was set in motion last year by the Republican-dominated Legislature and signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis before he launched his unsuccessful presidential bid.

Harvey Weinstein likely to appear before New York court

Former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein is set to make a public appearance in a New York court today, marking his first tie in front of a judge since his 2020 conviction was overturned by the New York Court of Appeals.

According to the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, Weinstein is expected to appear before Judge Curtis Farber at 2.15 pm on Wednesday.

This court appearance follows a recent 4-3 ruling by the New York Court of Appeals overturning his 2020 rape conviction.

Closing arguments in US against Google antitrust trial

A United States judge in Washington, D.C., is expected to hear closing arguments in May in lawsuits from the US Justice Department, Colorado and other states over Google’s web search dominance.

Google has been accused of monopolising the market for digital advertising and undermining competition. The government has said Google should be forced to sell its ad manager suite.

Inaugural season of Gujarat Super League to kick off
