The outcome of the RBI Monetary Policy Meet
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Sanjay Malhotra will announce a decision on interest rates at which commercial banks borrow money from the central bank on Friday.
The decision comes after three days of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting, which began on February 5.
The RBI conducts six bi-monthly meetings each financial year to discuss interest rates, money supply, inflation outlook and other macroeconomic indicators.
Manipur Speaker’s tribunal hearing of anti-defection case
The Manipur speaker’s tribunal would hear the anti-defection case of five JD(U) MLAs who had joined the BJP shortly after winning the state assembly elections in 2022.
A petition seeking disqualification of the five from the assembly was filed by Manipur Congress Vice-President Hareshwar Goswami.
Pakistan Navy’s Aman military drills
Pakistan will host a biennial multinational naval exercise from February 7 to 11.
Dubbed Aman (Peace) 25, the military drill, which will see participation from 60 countries, will run in the northern Arabian Sea off the port city of Karachi.
DMK MPs’ protest at Parliament
DMK MPs, along with other opposition MPs, will be protesting on Friday at Parliament premises against the detainment of Tamil Nadu fisherman by Sri Lankan Navy.
The Sri Lankan Navy detained 10 Indian fishermen from Tamil Nadu and seized their mechanised boats while they were fishing in the Gulf of Mannar.

A New York judge is expected to announce the sentencing of disgraced former congressman George Santos on federal fraud charges. Earlier, the court had delayed his sentencing so he could pay off more than half a million dollars in fines by making more episodes of his podcast “Pants on Fire.”

3 Indian pro boxers at Super Fighter Series in Bangkok
Three Indians, including Tamil Nadu’s pro boxer Sabari Jaishankar and Laldinsanga and Vanlalawmpuia from Mizoram, will star in the Super Fighter Series, an international professional boxing event in Bangkok.
The high-octane series features international boxers from the USA, France, Belarus, Ukraine, Thailand, besides the three Indians.
