Tuesday is likely to be quite hectic for the Indian subcontinent.
PM Narendra Modi will address a poll rally in Maharashtra’s Latur, Outer Manipur will be conducting fresh polling at six stations of three assembly segments, and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann will be meeting his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal in Tihar jail.

PM Modi’s rallies in Maharashtra
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Maharashtra’s Latur to address the Lok Sabha poll rally in Birle Farm on 30 April.
The rally, which would begin at 12.30 pm, will be attended by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.
The Latur district administration has banned the flying of drones till the intervening night of 30 April and 1 May and also imposed traffic regulations on several roads, an official told PTI.
Repolling in Outer Manipur
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered fresh polling at six stations of three assembly segments – Ukhrul, Chingai and Karong faling under the Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency, which went to the polls on Friday, 26 April.

The development comes after the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) had urged the CEO by a letter to take up necessary action to re-poll or fresh poll at 19 polling stations in Ukhrul (17) and Phungyar (2) assembly constituencies in Outer Manipur.
Bhagwant Mann to meet Arvind Kejriwal in Tihar
Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann will meet his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal in Tihar jail on Tuesday, AAP sources said on Sunday, 28 April.
This will be Mann’s second meeting with Kejriwal in Tihar. Kejriwal was arrested on 21 March by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with an excise policy-linked money-laundering case.
Mann met Kejriwal in jail earlier this month and alleged that the AAP chief was not being given amenities provided even to hardcore criminals.
Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi to take charge as new Navy Chief
Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi will take charge as the next Chief of the Naval Staff starting today.
He was serving as the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, succeeding the incumbent Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar.
Vice Admiral Tripathi was commissioned into the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy on 1 July 1985. He has had a long distinguished service on frontline warships of the Navy spanning nearly 39 years.
Crucial court hearings
- SC hearing over Patanjali’s misleading ads case
The Supreme Court will be hearing Patanjali Ayurved’s promoter Ramdev and managing director Balkrishna’s petition pertaining to misleading advertisements by the company.
The apex court had directed the company to keep the paper cutting of the ads handy as they would like to see the actual size of the ads and not enlarged images.
During its previous hearing on 23 April, the court also expressed its intention to look into misleading ads made by Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG)/pharma companies.
- Chennai court to pronounce orders on Senthil Balaji’s discharge petition
A sessions court would pronounce orders on Tuesday, on the discharge petition filed by former Tamil Nadu Minister V Senthil Balaji in a money laundering case.
He was arrested last year by the ED.
Balaji had on 28 March filed a petition seeking to re-open the arguments on his side, which was closed on 22 March, on his discharge petition.
Accordingly, the arguments were re-opened and heard.
- Allahabad HC hearing over Krishna Janmbhoomi-Idgah suit
The Allahabad High Court will be hearing a plea on the maintainability of the Krishna Janmbhoomi and Shahi Idgah suit in Mathura on Tuesday.
During its last hearing, the Hindu side in the matter countered the Muslim side’s contention in the court that the dispute is related to a Waqf property.
The Muslim side had questioned the maintainability of the suit, claiming the disputed Shahi Idgah Masjid is a Waqf property and thus the jurisdiction to hear the matter is only with the Wakf Tribunal and the civil court has no jurisdiction to hear the case.
- Delhi court to hear Manish Sisodia’s bail plea
The National Capital’s Rouse Avenue Court reserved the order for 30 April on a bail plea filed by AAP leader and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, in the now-scrapped liquor policy case.
Special judge for CBI and ED, Kaveri Baweja had reserved the order for Tuesday after hearing arguments from the central probe agencies as well as the counsel appearing for Sisodia.
The AAP leader had also moved interim bail pleas in both cases to campaign for the Lok Sabha polls.
