It’s going to be a busy Tuesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to the UAE. Back home, all eyes are on Delhi as farmers are expected to march to the National Capital and a Patna court has summoned TN minister Udhyanidhi Stalin in the Sanatan Dharma case. Here’s a glimpse of how the day will unfold. Farmers’ protest in Delhi Two years after forcing the repeal of three agricultural regulations through a year of protests in the Capital in 2021, farmers unions have threatened a comeback. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha announced the “Delhi Chalo” march by more than 200 farmers’ unions on 13 February to press the Centre to accept several demands. According to a report by Livemint, the farmers are demanding to enact a law that ensures the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of all crops in accordance with the Dr Swaminathan Commission’s report. PTI[/caption] In order to prevent farmer agitation, Section 144 of the CrPC, which prohibits gatherings of five or more people, has been implemented in several districts of Haryana, Delhi and adjacent regions, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh. The Haryana government has also suspended mobile internet services and bulk SMS in seven districts. The interstate borders have been heavily secured in anticipation of the farmers’ “Delhi Chalo” march. The police have been installing jersey barricades and prohibitory orders as a precaution. In addition to this, traffic advisories have been released by the Haryana and Delhi police, urging commuters to minimise their use of major roadways today. PM Modi’s visit to the UAE PM Modi is on a two-day visit to the UAE starting today. During his visit, Modi will address the Indian community at Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi. Patna court hearing on Sanatan Dharma case A special court in the Bihar capital earlier summoned Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, directing him to appear before it for a 13 February hearing in a case linked to his controversial remarks on Sanatan Dharma. At a writers’ conference in Chennai in the first week of September last year, Udhayanidhi said, “Sanatan is like malaria and dengue, and so it must be eradicated and not simple opposed.” Kaushalendra Narayan, a Patna HC lawyer, filed a criminal case against Udhyanidhi at CJM’s court on 4 September. PTI[/caption] SC hearing on PACL scam The Supreme Court will be hearing over details about the sale of assets of Pearls Agrotech Corporation Ltd (PACL), refund status and the dues of the firm’s investors that are yet to be paid. PACL and its promoters and directors, including Nirmal Singh Bhangoo, have been embroiled in a legal battle for their alleged failure to refund Rs 49,100 crore collected through chit fund schemes to investors. Fifth edition Badminton Asia Team C’ships in Malaysia The fifth edition of Badminton Asia Team championships (both Men and Women) is scheduled to take place in Shah Alam, Malysia from 13 to 18 February. Sebi to auction 30 properties Sebi will auction 30 properties of six companies, including Mangalam Agro Products today to recover money illegally collected from the investors. The properties will be auctioned for a reserve price of nearly Rs 30 crore. The other companies whose properties will also be auctioned are Bishal group of companies, Purusattam Infotech Industries, NVD Solar Ltd, Sun Plant Business and Jivan Sathi Dream Projects. IEA 2024 ministerial meeting in France Energy and climate ministers from around the world will meet in Paris today and tomorrow (14 February) for the IEA’s 2024 Ministerial meeting to take stock of the latest developments in energy markets, policies and transitions. The meeting will also celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the IEA, with a number of special events, including a series of High-Level Dialogues and an Energy Innovation Forum.
