President Droupadi Murmu will address the nation on the eve of the 78th Independence Day.

Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia will start a padayatra on Wednesday and “spearhead” preparations for the Delhi Assembly election scheduled for next year.

Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin could be thrown out of office today when the country’s Constitutional Court rules on his appointment of a cabinet minister with a criminal conviction.

She will also inaugurate Amrit Udyan today and the garden will remain open for public viewing from Friday till September 15.

Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia will start a padayatra from Wednesday and “spearhead” preparations for the Delhi Assembly election scheduled for next year.

The decision has come as the party’s top brass has been holding discussions for the past two days over the future role of Sisodia after he was granted bail by the Supreme Court in the corruption cases linked to the non-scrapped Delhi excise policy.

WHO emergency committee meeting

The World Health Organization’s emergency committee will meet on Wednesday to decide whether to trigger its highest alert level over an Mpox outbreak sweeping through several African countries.

The WHO said in a note to journalists that the closed virtual meeting will start at 1000 GMT Wednesday.

Formerly known as monkeypox, mpox is an infectious disease caused by a virus transmitted to humans by infected animals but can also be passed from human to human through close physical contact.

Thailand’s Constitutional Court verdict in a case to remove PM

Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin could be thrown out of office today when the country’s Constitutional Court rules on his appointment of a cabinet minister with a criminal conviction.

The case comes after the same court disbanded the kingdom’s main opposition political party and banned its former leader, Pita Limjaroenrat, from politics for a decade.

Srettha is accused of violating ethics rules by appointing Pichit Chuenban, a lawyer closely associated with the family of billionaire former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, as a minister.

Pakistan Independence Day

Pakistan will be celebrating its 78th Independence Day, with a display of patriotism, entertainment and community engagement.

Various programs have been arranged in F-9 Park, including a musical concert, fireworks, and Islamabad’s first-ever drone show.

A tree planting area will also be designated, allowing families, youth, and children to participate in the festivities.

Wholesale Price Inflation data to be released

India’s wholesale price index (WPI) based inflation data will be released today.

The country’s wholesale prices accelerated to 3.4 per cent in June, the highest in 16 months from 2.6 per cent in May, led by a spike in food inflation to 8.7 per cent and a near-doubling in the rise of manufactured products prices to 1.43 per cent.
