After holding a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump, he is expected to address the media with him in the Oval Office.
The world is also keeping an eye on the diplomatic movements in Germany’s Munich as it hosts the 61st Munich Security Conference (MSC).
The informal meeting is attended by US Vice President JD Vance, who is expected to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
PM Modi in the US
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on a two-day visit to the United States.
He arrived at the White House at 4 pm, February 13 EST (2.30 am, February 14, Indian time).
After meeting US President Donald Trump, he held a bilateral meeting in the Oval Office and jointly addressed the media at around 3.40 am IST.
The presser is followed by private dinner hosted by the President on Thursday evening in the US 5.40 pm EST, which is 4.10 am, Indian time on Friday.
Munich Security Conference
All eyes are on Germany as it hosts the 61st Munich Security Conference (MSC) from February 14 to 16.
Decision-makers and opinion leaders from more than 100 countries are set to attend the conference.
Though it is an informal meeting at which no decisions are made, the gathering encourages open exchange of views and conflicts are not swept under the carpet.
US President Trump has sent his Vice President JD Vance to attend the conference.
Vance and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio are expected to meet Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Hearing on Elon Musk’s reform team access to Treasury data
A federal judge in New York will hear the case involving Elon Musk and his reform team access to Treasury data.
Earlier, the judge had temporarily blocked them from accessing government processing systems after attorneys general in 19 states filed suit.
The states argue Musk and his assistants are not authorised to access the payment system and could jeopardise confidential information and even block federal funds to states for health clinics, preschools, climate initiatives, and other programmes.
Farmers meeting
The sixth round of discussions with agitating farmers in Punjab and Haryana will be held today.
In the previous round held last month, the government had proposed a five-year plan for the procurement of certain crops at Minimum Support Prices (MSP), but did not reach a consensus on the farmers’ border demands, including a legal guarantee for MSP.
‘Veer Jawan Diwas’ in Hyderabad
Ahead of February 14, which is celebrated as Valentine’s Day, the Bajrang Dal unit in Hyderabad will celebrate the day as “Veer Jawan Diwas,” instead of the “western celebration.”
The day will mark tribute to 40 CRPF jawans who were killed in the deadly Pulwana terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on February 14, 2019.
