Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is likely to tender his resignation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 74 today. He is set to visit Odisha’s Bhubaneswar and launch the ‘SUBHADRA’ scheme.

The presentation of the structure of the new European Commission, chaired for the second time by Ursula von der Leyen, will take place today.

Arvind Kejriwal likely to quit

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will meet Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Tuesday at 4.30 pm and is likely to tender his resignation.

Before that, a meeting of AAP MLAs will take place at Kejriwal’s residence tomorrow at 11.30 am.

On Sunday, Kejriwal had announced his decision to resign, saying, “I am going to resign after 2 days; ask people whether I am honest; till they respond, won’t sit on CM’s chair. I will only sit on CM’s chair after people give me a certificate of honesty; I want to give ‘agnipariksha’ after coming out of jail."

The announcement came two days after he walked out of Delhi’s Tihar Jail on getting bail by the Supreme Court in a corruption case filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) linked to the Delhi excise policy case.

PM Modi in Odisha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 74 today.

Like any other working day, he will be visiting Bhubaneswar to launch the “SUBHADRA” scheme, a flagship initiative of the Odisha government.

The scheme, according to the Prime Minister’s Office, is the largest women-centric initiative in the state, aimed at supporting over one crore women. He will also release the first installment of financial assistance under PMAY-G to approximately 13 lakh beneficiaries across 14 states.

The NDA government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has already served 100 days after taking office for a record-breaking third term.

SC to hear SpiceJet’s plea against grounding of 3 engines

The top court is slated to hear on Tuesday a plea filed by low-cost carrier SpiceJet against the Delhi High Court directive requiring the debt-ridden airline to ground three engines over repetitive failures to pay its lessors.

As per the cause list published on the website of the apex court, a bench headed by CJI DY Chandrachud comprising Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra will take up the matter for hearing.

The CBI custody of former Principal of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College Sandip Ghosh and Station House Officer (SHO) of Tala Police Station Abhijit Mondal, who were arrested in the RG Kar Hospital rape and murder case, ends today.

In the case filed against both, the probe agency has charged them for the delay in filing the FIR and tampering with evidence in the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor at the state-run health facility on August 9.

Top naval brass’s security review meet

Amid growing instabilities in the region, top commanders of the Indian Navy would review the security scenario in and around the country from Tuesday.

The meeting comes soon after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s call to the defence forces to be ready for the unexpected at the recently held Joint Commanders’ Conference in Lucknow.

The meeting would be held in the new Naval headquarters in the National Capital from September 17 for four days.

Judicial custody of Kannada actor Darshan ends

Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, his rumoured partner Pavithra Gowda and others’ judicial custody ends today in the Renukaswamy murder case.

All the 17 accused are likely to appear before a court in Bengaluru.
