Firstly, Kash Patel will appear before a US Senate Judiciary Committee for a confirmation hearing to be the next director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Meanwhile, an NIA team will travel to the United States to extradite Tahawwur Rana, accused in the 26/11 terror attacks.

OpenAI’s Sam Altman will host an artificial intelligence meeting with US government officials. In India, the government is set to hold an all-party meeting ahead of the upcoming Union Budget 2025.  Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav will join AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal for a roadshow ahead of the Delhi Assembly election.

Kash Patel to appear before US Senate Judiciary Committee

President Donald Trump’s nominee for FBI Director, Kash Patel, is scheduled to appear before the US Senate Judiciary Committee for his confirmation hearing. His nomination has sparked significant controversy due to concerns about his qualifications and past statements.

According to Judiciary Senate, Senator Dick Durbin, has expressed that Patel “has neither the experience, the temperament, nor the judgment to lead the FBI.”

NIA team to travel to US to extradite Tahawwur Rana

A team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) members will travel to the US to bring back Tahawwur Rana, a man accused of being involved in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. The development comes after the US Supreme Court dismissed Rana’s petition against the extradition.

The NIA’s team will coordinate with US authorities to complete the necessary legal and procedural formalities for Rana’s extradition, reported The Indian Express. The development marks a significant step in India’s efforts to bring those responsible for the Mumbai attacks to justice.

Rana, a Canadian national of Pakistani origin, is accused of involvement in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, which resulted in 166 fatalities. He is alleged to have provided support to David Coleman Headley, a key conspirator in the attacks.

Sam Altman to host US government officials

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is scheduled to conduct a briefing with US government officials in Washington, DC, today. The aim of the meeting is to discuss significant advancements in artificial intelligence.

According to The Telegraph, the focus of this meeting is reportedly on the development of “super agents,” advanced AI systems capable of performing complex tasks traditionally handled by humans.

Government to hold an all-party meet ahead of upcoming Union Budget 2025

Ahead of the upcoming Union Budget, the government has called an all-party meeting today, announced Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Kiren Rijiju.

On the upcoming Budget session of Parliament, Rijiju told ANI, “On 31st January, the Budget session of Parliament will start. Before it, on 30th January, we have called an all-party meeting.”

Akhilesh Yadav to campaign for AAP

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav is set to campaign for Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi today ahead of the Delhi assembly elections.

Samajwadi Party, along with Trinamool Congress, Shivsena UBT and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) has already extended its support to the ruling AAP in Delhi.
