INDIA bloc’s rally

The Opposition-led INDIA bloc is set to hold a rally at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar to address concerns over Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s deteriorating health in Tihar Jail, as announced by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

The AAP has accused the BJP of “conspiring to kill” Kejriwal, highlighting his medical report that shows his sugar levels dropped 26 times between June 3 and July 7. They further allege that the BJP-led Centre and Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena are endangering the chief minister’s life.

Masoud Pezeshkian, a reformist politician and heart surgeon, will be sworn in today as Iran’s ninth president.

Pezeshkian succeeds Ebrahim Raisi, whose death in a May helicopter crash led to the early election. The swearing-in ceremony will be attended by delegations from 80 countries, including 11 parliament speakers, four vice presidents, four prime ministers, and two presidents, according to state media.

Following his oath, Pezeshkian will have two weeks to form his cabinet and seek a vote of confidence from parliament.

During his election campaign, Pezeshkian promised not to make radical changes to Iran’s Shiite theocracy and pledged to respect Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as the ultimate authority in all state matters. On Sunday, Khamenei officially endorsed Pezeshkian’s presidency in a ceremony attended by various officials and dignitaries.
