Here is all that is set to take place today.

Hugary’s Orban to meet Trump in DC

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban will meet US President Donald Trump on November 7 in Washington. During the meeting, he aims to discuss a path to a US-Russia meeting and seek an exemption from US energy sanctions.

Earlier, Orban’s chief of staff, Gergely Gulyas, told a press briefing that the two leaders would also conclude agreements on co‑operation in the fields of energy, defence industry, economy and finance. “Some of these have already been negotiated, while in other cases discussions are still ongoing,” he said.

Orban had previously said that he aims to sign a broad economic agreement with Washington to offset the effect of US tariffs on the European Union.

US flight cuts to begin amid government shutdown

Airports in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago are among 40 of the busiest across the US where flights will be cut starting today due to the government shutdown, according to a list distributed to the airlines and obtained by The Associated Press.

The Federal Aviation Administration announced Wednesday it would reduce air traffic by 10 per cent across “high-volume” markets to maintain travel safety as air traffic controllers go unpaid and exhibit signs of strain during the shutdown. The affected airports, in more than two dozen states, include the busiest across the US, including Atlanta, Denver, Dallas, Orlando, Miami, and San Francisco. In some of the biggest cities — such as New York, Houston and Chicago — multiple airports will be affected.

Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas to meet Italy’s Giorgia Meloni

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is scheduled to meet Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni today as part of a three-day official visit to Italy.

President Abbas arrived in Rome on Wednesday (November 5). He is also scheduled to meet Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Pope Francis during his visit. The leaders are expected to discuss recent developments regarding the situation in Gaza, efforts toward a lasting political solution based on the two-state solution, the release of hostages, and Italy’s potential role in the stabilisation and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

Nasa-Isro’s Nisar satellite to be declared operational

The Nasa-Isro Synthetic Aperture Radar (Nisar) satellite, the first ever jointly developed by the two space agencies, is set to be declared operational today.

The 2,400 kg Nisar satellite, which was launched on July 30 using Isro’s GSLV rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, is considered the most expensive Earth observation satellite ever built. It possesses the remarkable ability to monitor most of the planet’s land and ice surfaces twice every 12 days.

The Nisar mission is unique as it is the first to carry two Synthetic Aperture Radar (Sar) systems, namely the L-Band and S-Band sensors. Both systems are designed to collect high-resolution data through clouds and precipitation, day and night.

SC to pass order on regulating feeding of stray dogs in govt institutions, other premises

The Supreme Court is set to issue an order on regulating the feeding of stray dogs in government institutions, and similar premises, where the employees support canines today. Earlier, the three-judge bench headed by Justice Vikram Nath, and comprising Justices Sandeep Mehta and N V Anjaria, was hearing the suo motu case registered by the court in connection with the stray dog menace across the country.

“We will be issuing some directions with respect to… specifically regarding government institutions, public sector institutions, and other big institutions where the employees are supporting, feeding, and encouraging dogs in that area,” Justice Nath said.

The message from the Supreme Court on October 27th was blunt: The rising reports of stray canine attacks are a national disgrace, actively maligning India’s reputation abroad. And who is failing the people? The states and UTs. The Court lacked patience for those government bodies that hadn’t bothered to follow its earlier directions and file their required affidavits. It was a sharp reprimand for administrative inaction on a high-stakes public safety issue.

BJP to mark 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’ with nationwide recitations

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will mark 150 years of the national song of India, Vande Mataram. The song will be sung across the country on Friday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend one such event at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.

The celebrations are massive and are scheduled for 150 nationally important sites, including the Kargil War Memorial and the Cellular Jail, and other landmarks like Swaraj Ashram, Shaheed Smarak Park, and Namo Ghat. The scope is huge, especially in West Bengal, which alone plans to hold similar events at approximately 1,100 different locations.
