Trump to visit Israel, greet hostages released by Hamas

US President Donald Trump is visiting Israel today in the wake of the Gaza peace deal. He plans to greet the hostages after Hamas has released them from Gaza. In exchange,  Israel will free 250 Palestinian prisoners and 1,700 detainees from Gaza, including nearly two dozen children

“You can’t say exactly the moment they will be released, but we have every expectation… that he will be greeting the hostages,” US Vice President JD Vance said.

Trump is also expected to address the Knesset. He is likely to land in Israel at 9:20 am (local time) and depart at 1:00 pm (local time). The US president will then travel to Egypt, where he and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi will lead a summit in Sharm el-Sheikh with leaders from more than 20 countries to discuss peace in Gaza and the broader West Asia.

Nobel Prize in Economics announced

The Nobel Prize in Economics will be announced today in Stockholm, Sweden. This will be the last award, following which the Nobel Week will come to an end.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm will make the announcement at 11:45 CEST (Central European Summer Time) at the earliest. The prizes in medicine, physics, chemistry, literature, and peace have been announced earlier in the week.

The award is officially titled “The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel.”

New flight for Starship rocket by Elon Musk’s SpaceX

The Starship, the spacecraft Elon Musk has designed as the vehicle to transport the first humans to Mars, is about to launch for the 11th time from Texas.

While the 400-foot-tall Starship failed to replicate its 2024 successes in the first three tests of the year, the world’s largest rocket finally had its most successful uncrewed mission of 2025 less than two months ago, launching from SpaceX’s Starbase facility.

NDA to release first list for Bihar elections

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is likely to announce its first list for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections today.

According to senior NDA sources, all constituent parties have agreed on the distribution of seats, and there are no disputes within the alliance, reported India Today.

The JD(U) has entrusted the BJP with finalising the seat-sharing arrangement and leading talks with allies Chirag Paswan, Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Upendra Kushwaha. Reports indicate these discussions are currently progressing in a positive direction.

SC to hear plea seeking SIT probe into ‘vote-stealing’ allegations

The Supreme Court is likely to take up a petition seeking an SIT probe into the ‘vote chori’ allegations made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi against the Election Commission of India (ECI) today.

A Public Interest Litigation (PIL), filed by advocate Rohit Pandey, sought directions from the Supreme Court to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and look into the accusations made by the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition.

The plea also sought the top court’s direction that no further revision or finalisation of electoral rolls be undertaken until compliance with the court’s directions and the completion of an independent audit of the rolls.
