Firstly, the Anthony Albanese government is set to present the federal budget of Australia for the financial year 2025-26 today. Meanwhile, the inauguration ceremony of Belarus’ President Alexander Lukashenko will take place today in Minsk.

Meanwhile, the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2025 will begin on Tuesday in China’s Hainan Province. A Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) will meet to deliberate on the ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal.

Australia’s government to present federal budget

Anthony Albanese-led Australian government is set to present the nation’s federal budget for the financial year 2025-26 with a special focus on defence spending . Treasurer Jim Chalmers will deliver the budget, outlining the government’s financial strategy, economic forecasts, and spending priorities for the upcoming fiscal year.

According to Defence Minister Richard Marles, the budget will bring $1 billion in defence spending this fiscal year to boost the country’s military capability. Australia and other United States security allies are under pressure from United States President Donald Trump to increase defence spending, reported news agency Reuters.

Inauguration ceremony of Bulgaria’s President Alexander Lukashenko

The inauguration ceremony of Alexander Lukashenko as the president of Belarus for a seventh term is scheduled to take place today. Lukashenko has been in power since 1994 and will be sworn in for another term.

According to reports, the ceremony is expected to be held in Minsk and will be attended by top government officials, military leaders and foreign dignitaries from select allied nations.

According to the constitution of Belarus,  the oath of office of the president is taken in a solemn ceremony in the presence of members of the Presidium of the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly, members of the lower and upper houses of the parliament among others.

Boao Forum’s 2025 Annual Conference in China

​The Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2025 is scheduled to take place from March 25 to 28 in Boao, Hainan Province, China. This year’s theme is “Asia in the Changing World: Towards a Shared Future” which will focus on development, fostering dialogue, exploring innovative formats and valuing tangible outcomes to advance international development and cooperation.

Established in 2001, the BFA serves as a high-level platform for leaders from government, business, and academia to discuss pressing issues affecting Asia and the world. The 2025 conference aims to address challenges and opportunities in the current global landscape, emphasizing collaboration and shared progress among Asian nations.

JPC meet on the ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal

The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Constitution (129th Amendment) Bill, 2024, will hold a meeting today. The committee is likely to interact with two esteemed guests.

They will meet Justice DN Patel, the Former Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, who currently serves as the Chairperson of the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT). Following this, they will engage in a discussion with R Venkataramani, the Attorney General of India, reported news agency ANI.

Gujarat Titans vs Punjab Kings in IPL

The fifth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will take place between Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium today. Last season Gujarat Titans finished eighth on the table with 12 points, while Punjab Kings finished ninth with 10 points from 14 matches.
