Holi is over and so is the long weekend. Now, we have to brace for Tuesday (26 March) which is going to bring some big developments.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) plans to ‘gherao’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence following the arrest of their leader and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal last week.
In the United States, the Supreme Court will hear an important case on the availability of widely used abortion pills. The judgement is set to impact millions of women across America.
Here’s all this and more that is expected to grab headlines throughout the day.
AAP to ‘gherao’ PM residence
The AAP said earlier it would demonstrate against CM Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a graft case related to the scrapped Delhi excise policy case. The party launched a four-day protest plan to condemn their leader’s arrest last week.
As part of this plan, the AAP will ‘gherao’ Modi’s residence today. Kejriwal’s party has been staging protests over the past few days.
The Delhi CM’s arrest has been criticised by Opposition leaders, who have hit out at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre. The development has come just weeks before India heads to crucial general elections.
Kejriwal’s party has moved the Delhi High Court against his arrest and a lower court’s order granting his custody to the ED for seven days. However, the court turned down an urgent hearing, saying it will take up the matter on Wednesday.

View AllUS Supreme Court hearing
The US Supreme Court, which struck down the constitutional right to abortion in 2022, will again hear the crucial issue. The abortion opponents seek to limit access to the abortion pill mifepristone. Any ruling in favour of this has wide implications for the scientific authority of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The US president Joe Biden’s administration is appealing a lower court’s order that would revoke the FDA’s actions in 2016 and 2021 that had eased access to mifepristone, the first of two pills taken in medication abortions.
While a ruling is expected by the summer, it would have wide ramifications on women seeking to end their pregnancies as well as the FDA’s authority over drug safety.
India-US tri-service exercise

The Harbour Phase of the exercise was held from 18 to 25 March at Visakhapatnam. As per a defence ministry press release, this phase included “pre-sail discussions, subject matter expert exchange on professional subjects and deliberations on planning and execution procedures of various tasks”.
