The discovery of a 26-year-old woman found stuffed in an almirah at a house in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka area has shocked the national capital on Thursday.
The incident came to light after the victim’s father, concerned about his inability to reach his daughter for several days, requested police assistance. The woman had been living in a rented flat with her live-in partner, Vipal Tailor, for about a month and a half before this tragic discovery was made.
Here’s what we know so far.
Body found in almirah, live-in partner suspected
According to police, a PCR call was received at 10.40 pm on Wednesday wherein a caller said his daughter could have been killed, following which a team from Dabri police station rushed to the said house in Dwarka’s Rajapuri area.
“Upon entering the flat, the body of the woman was found in the almirah of a room. The crime scene was inspected by the crime team and FSL,” said a senior police officer.
Her father who was present at the spot, alleged that she was killed by her live-in partner Vipal Tailor, the police said. Citing his last call with the woman, he told the police that she had told him that her partner Vipal Tailor used to beat her up and she was afraid she could be murdered, they said.
He also told the police that his daughter had been living in the rented flat with Tailor for the past one-and-a-half months, they added.
The police officer said the body has been transferred to DDU Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

Crimes by live-in partners in Delhi
The incident is the latest in the crimes committed by live-in partners in Delhi.
In January this year, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her mother’s live-in partner in Delhi’s Burari area. The accused, identified as Ankit, was a bus driver working on a contract basis, and was living with the victim’s mother for the past eight years.
The mother had a son from this live-in relationship. Later, Ankit was arrested and charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and POCSO Act.
In another incident, a man named Sahil Gehlot strangled his live-in partner Nikki Yadav to death after an argument and hid her body in a ‘dhaba’ refrigerator on the outskirts of Mitraon village in Najafgarh in February 2023. After the murder, he went to his home and solemnised his marriage to another woman.
In May 2022, Shraddha Walkar , 27, was murdered by her live-in partner, Aaftab Amin Poonawala, in Delhi. He allegedly killed Shraddha after an argument and then chopped her body into 35 pieces.
