Here’s what you need to know about this impressive project

1. Located on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road in the World Trade Center district, Burj Azizi will stand nearly 340 feet shorter than the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest skyscraper. Once completed, Burj Azizi will surpass the 2,227-foot Merdeka 118 in Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur, becoming the world’s second tallest building, while also outstripping Dubai’s Marina 101 (1,394 feet), currently the city’s second-tallest tower.

2. Burj Azizi is poised to break several records, featuring over 131 floors. It will house the world’s highest hotel lobby (on level 11), the highest nightclub (on level 126), and the tallest observation deck (on level 130), according to Azizi Developments.

3. The developer said the building will also clinch the record for Dubai’s highest restaurant, surpassing Burj Khalifa’s At.mosphere, with a venue on the 122nd floor, along with the city’s highest hotel room on the tower’s 118th floor.

4. The skyscraper “will embody Dubai’s spirit, celebrating the world’s seven major cultures through its intricate interior design”, Azizi told Gulf News. Glazed with a shiny exterior consisting of multiple rectangular forms, Burj Azizi will consist of luxurious apartments and penthouses, a vertical retail centre spread over seven floors, a luxury ballroom, a beach club, wellness centres, swimming pools, movie theatres, gyms, mini-markets, and a children’s playground.

5. The project has already surpassed a whopping cost of 6 billion dirhams (approximately Rs 13,719 crore) in investment, Azizi said in a press release. “My vision for Burj Azizi is to create a lasting legacy, a tribute to Dubai as a destination of choice for both residents and visitors and a monumental achievement in engineering.” The developer has 40,000 units under construction, valued in the billions, with expected delivery by 2027, as per its website.

6. The construction of Burj Azizi began earlier this year, with completion slated for 2028. Luxury apartments are set to hit the market by February 2025. Dubai, already home to more skyscrapers over 300 meters (984 feet) than any other city, continues to build impressive towers, according to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.

7. Notably, the Franck Muller Aeternitas Tower aims to become the tallest residential clock tower by 2027, while Ciel Dubai Marina will claim the title of the world’s tallest hotel. The Burj Binghatti Jacob & Co Residences is also on track to be the tallest residential structure at 1,952 feet.

Rising 150 metres from Dubai’s Zabeel Park, the Dubai Frame, also known as the ‘world’s largest picture frame. The structure is made up of 2,000 tonnes of steel and 2,900 metres of laminated glass. It also features more than 15,000 square metres of gold-coloured stainless steel. AFP

8. But Dubai’s superlatives extend beyond skyscrapers. The city also boasts the world’s highest infinity pool, the largest natural flower garden, and the largest picture frame, showcasing its penchant for record-breaking landmarks.
