After Donald Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen nicknamed him ‘Von ShitzInPantz’, the Republican candidate’s supporters are making diapers great again…or at least trying to. They are thronging rallies wearing nappies; some are donning T-shirts and holding placards with slogans like ‘Real Men Wear Diapers’ and ‘Diapers over Dems’

Just when you think US presidential elections can’t get more bizarre, they throw up a surprise. Donald Trump’s supporters do not disappoint. They are showing up at his rallies wearing nappies and shirts that read “Real Man Wear Diapers”.

But why?

Trump supporters, aka MAGAs, are responding to recent developments in the former president’s hush money trial case, where his lawyer Todd Blanche read out a string of offensive posts by his ex-lawyer Michael Cohen in the courtroom.

Here’s how the diaper drama began.

Trump Vs Cohen

Last month, Cohen, who is also an expected witness to the 2016 hush money payments case against Trump, referred to him as a “Von ShitzInPantz” in a post on X. “Hey Von ShitzInPantz…your attacks of me stink of desperation. We are all hoping that you take the stand in your defence,” he wrote.

Later, Cohen tweeted again: “Oh… Von ShitzInPantz. Keep whining, crying, and violating the gag order you petulant defendant!”

He was once again taking a dig at Trump, who has been pulled up by the prosecution for violating a gag order in the hush money case. The judge also levied a fine of $9,000 on the former president for violating the order.

Cohen’s tweets were read aloud by Trump’s lawyer in the presence of New York supreme court Justice Juan Merchan, “This one says, oh my, S**tzInPantz,” Blanche said leading to his comments now officially documented in the court’s record book. He further said that his client was the victim of attacks by both Cohen and the press.

Trump supporters’ diaper display

Trump’s followers seem to have embraced Cohen’s “Von ShitzInPantz” taunt unexpectedly. They are now cheering on “Diaper Don” at his rallies.

People are turning up wearing nappies and shirts with slogans like “Real Men Wear Diapers” and “Diapers over Dems” written upon them with pictures flooding social media. Some of these T-shirts are up for sale.

Trump diapers trend

Those in the rival camp are, of course, horrified.

“Real Men Wear Diapers? Um OK. Back to baby Trump,” wrote a user sharing an Al picture of Trump wearing diapers.

“#DonaldVonShitzinPants is trending. I cannot imagine that will make Trump happy with his lawyer. Now he has to defend himself. Meanwhile, a new flag has shown up at Trump Rallies. “Real Men Wear Diapers….I sh*t you not,” wrote another.

“So after years of bashing President Biden about his age, now the cult is saying this? Even for a cult, this is pathetic,” read a comment on X.

The Lincoln Project, a leading US pro-democracy organisation, wasn’t going to let Trump supporters enjoy a win. It launched an ad hitting out at the former president, highlighting how he falls asleep amid court hearings and benefits from ‘Trump diapers’ as the ad claims he poops in his pants.

The ad begins with, “Has this ever happened to you? You’re sitting in court again, under pressure and stress, and then a warm feeling comes over you. Uncomfortably warm. Uh-oh. It’s pressure all right. Down there. That’s when you need Trump Diapers, the elite adults incontinence product for owning Libs on the go while you go”, according to a report in The Hindustan Times.

It describes the diapers as the perfect accessory needed to “spend hours in a freezing courtroom when the judge won’t let you use the restroom every time they scare the shit out of you.”

Rick Wilson, co-founder of the Lincoln Project, told Florida Politics, “Trump will hate that this commercial is going to be seen by all his top donors this weeddkend as they do Apprentice-style tryouts with potential Vice Presidential picks.”

This might not be the last of nappy politics. That is election season in the US for you. Pretty sh**ty, isn’t it?
