Humans have long been captivated by the idea of alien existence.
This interest has long since prompted us to look for evidence of extraterrestrial life.
But after decades of study, scientists still cannot determine for certain if humans are the only ones in the cosmos.
According to a new Harvard University study, aliens may be secretly residing among us on Earth.

The alien talk
According to a study by researchers at Harvard University’s Human Flourishing Programme, unidentified aerial phenomena, or UFOs, might be spaceships visiting their extraterrestrial friends who live on Earth.
Researchers have looked into so-called “cryptoterrestrials” in a report titled The cryptoterrestrial hypothesis: A case for scientific openness to a concealed earthly explanation for Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, as per New York Post.
They suggested that these alien creatures might be on the moon, originating from intelligent dinosaurs, or living among us under human disguise. They might even be from Earth’s future.
The purpose of the study was to investigate the possibility that UAP may involve forms of non-human intelligence (NHI) that exist “alongside us in distinct stealth” and to provide an alternative, “unconventional,” explanation for UAP sightings and speculate on their possible significance, as per Moneycontrol.
The paper, as per New York Post, states, “The author became increasingly aware of the depth of evidence and theory that also tentatively supports another extraterrestrial explanation: the “cryptoterrestrial” hypothesis (CTH) – our focus here – which holds that UAP may reflect activities of NHIs concealed here on Earth (e.g., underground) and its environs.”

The four theories on aliens
- Human cryptoterrestrials
A technologically advanced ancient human civilisation that was largely destroyed long ago, but continued to exist in remnant form, as per NDTV.
- Hominid or Theropod cryptoterrestrials
A technologically advanced non-human civilisation consisting of some terrestrial animals which evolved to live in stealth (e.g., underground). These could be an ape-like hominid descendant or descendants of “unknown, intelligent dinosaurs.”
- Former extraterrestrial or extratempestrial cryptoterrestrials
These beings could have arrived on Earth from elsewhere in the cosmos or from the human future and concealed themselves in stealth, such as in the Moon.
- Magical cryptoterrestrials
Entities that are less like homegrown aliens and more like “earthbound angels.” These beings relate to the human world in ways that are less technological and more magical, such as “fairies, elves, nymphs.”

Conclusion
Although the researchers acknowledged that most scientists would “likely regard their research with scepticism,” they invited the scientific community to examine their findings “in a spirit of epistemic humility and openness.”
They added, “The principal weakness of CTH 4, by contrast, is its utter strangeness, particularly for readers schooled to limit themselves to modes of explanation within the bounds of, say, the standard model of physics.
The paper is yet to be peer-reviewed.
The allegations of US hiding UFOs
Last year in July, former US intelligence officer David Grush asserted that an unidentified flying object (UFO) the “size of a football field” is being hidden by the US government.
He said he led Defense Department efforts to analyse reported UAP sightings and was informed of a “multidecade” Pentagon program that endeavoured to collect and reconstruct crashed UAPs. He further told the hearing that he knows of “multiple colleagues” who were injured by UAPs. He also said he has interviewed individuals who have recovered “nonhuman biologics” from crashed UAPs.
The government has denied claims.
In a statement, Defence Department spokesperson Sue Gough said investigators have not discovered “any verifiable information to substantiate claims that any programs regarding the possession or reverse-engineering of extraterrestrial materials have existed in the past or exist currently.”
Well, the shift from considering UFOs as science fiction to fact has come about slowly but surely.
Even NASA has stepped up investigations into sightings. In 2022, the American space agency said it was setting up an independent study program to cover the issue from a scientific perspective.
