Zayn Malik reveals he was detained at US airport for three hours on his first visit

Singer Zayn Malik has revealed he was detained at the US airport by the officials for three hours. The 24-year-old musician recalled going through multiple security checks due to his name and ethnicity when he first visited America on a tour for One Direction, reported Evening Standard. The first time I came to America, I had three security checks before I got on the plane. “First they said that I’d been randomly selected, and then they said it was something to do with my name, it was flagging something on their system,” said Malik. The ‘Pillowtalk’ singer, who was 17 at the time, was left hassled during the process. “I was 17, my first time in America, jet-lagged off the plane, confused. The same thing happened the next time too,” he said. The U.S.A airport authorities have, over the years, gotten extremely stringent with Muslims entering the country, after the 9/11 attacks on the Twin Towers. Malik, whose father is a British Pakistani, is not the first celebrity to have been detained at a U.S. airport. Many celebrities from the Indian film fraternity have also had similar experiences and shared it on social media. According to Hindustan Times, Shah Rukh Khan, Irrfan Khan, Kabir Khan and Kamal Haasan have been detained for security reasons at airports in the U.S.A, too. With inputs from PTI.
