Actor Sagarika Ghatge, who was appreciated for her portrayal of the gritty hockey player Preeti Sabarwal in Shimit Amin’s 2007 sports drama Chak De! India, announced her engagement to cricketer Zaheer Khan back in 2017.

They were now well on their way to become the next cricketer-actor jodi after Harbhajan Singh-Geeta Basra and Yuvraj Singh-Hazel Keech. Ghatge, who was seen in Aparna Singh’s crime thriller Irada opposite Arshad Warsi, had appeared in half a dozen more films since her dream debut in 2007 in a Yash Raj Films production where she shared the screen space with Shah Rukh Khan.

Her role of a determined hockey player caught the attention of  Reebok India who signed her as their brand ambassador  . She did not have the same luck on celluloid as none of her subsequent films managed to fare well at the box office.

Her next Hindi film Fox released in 2009 and was directed by Deepak Tijori. She collaborated with seasoned actors like Sunny Deol and Arjun Rampal in the film, along with Udita Goswami. Then, she played a supporting role in Tanveer Khan’s 2011 film Miley Na Miley Hum. Her first film in the lead role was opposite Emran Hashmi in Shamin and Priyanka Desai’s 2012 thriller Rush.
