Why Robert De Niro began mumbling the Osage Language during 'Killers of the Flower Moon' | Explained

Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, John Lithgow, Brendan Fraser, Tantoo Cardinal, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, and Jillian Dion, and Leonardo DiCpario came together for Martin Scorcese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, which was one of his most complexed films yet. Talking to People Magazine, the director revealed how the actor began mumbling the Osage language even in his sleep, Niro is notoriously famous for getting into the character till he plays it. “His partner, Tiffany [Chen], has joked that he would start speaking Osage in his sleep,” reveals Scorsese. The actor himself nodded a yes on the amusing rumors and revealed, “She heard me mumbling. I was constantly going over and over. I couldn’t stumble through that [onscreen]. You have to know it.” About  _Killers of the Flower Moon_ Based on David Grann’s 2017 best-selling non-fiction book by the same name, the story of Killers of the Flower Moon is set in 1920s Oklahoma and focuses on the FBI’s investigation of a series of murders of the Osage people that took place in Oklahoma in the early 1920s and came to be known as the “Reign of Terror.” While DiCaprio will portray the role of Ernest Burkhart, Robert De Niro plays the role of his uncle (William Hale) in the movie. On the other hand, Gladstone will play Mollie Kyle, an Osage woman who has inherited an oil fortune. Narrating the little-known tragic story of Native American history, the master filmmaker makes us move with the underlying complexities of human emotions including greed and deception, which makes it a daunting experience. Despite a runtime of 3 hours and 26 minutes, the screenplay is watertight as no time is wasted on unnecessary things, in fact, many crucial elements are added beautifully by Scorsese to make this narrative intricate.
