As tensions between India and Pakistan escalated against the backdrop of the Uri attacks, comedian Tanmay Bhat — him of the All India Bakchod, Lata Mangeshkar-Sachin Tendulkar mimicking, Roast-ing fame — was among those who provided an unusual take on the cross-border hostilities.

In a series of tweets, Bhat 'analysed' the calls for India to go to war with Pakistan, and his pithy 140-character summation soon went viral.

Bhat began by describing an incident in school (our money's on it being apocryphal) when he was part of a debate competition, with the subject being 'Should India nuke Pakistan?'. Bhat described how he made an impassioned, well-argued and rational argument against the motion — only to be shown up by his opponent:

Now, a Pakistani comedian has also come up with a viral answer to why our two neighbouring nations shouldn't declare war.

In a post dated 22 September, Shehzad Ghias Shaikh offers several compelling reasons for why India and Pakistan should work out a peaceable solution to their longstanding tensions.

Among the reasons he puts forward are: Katrina Kaif (India has her, Pakistan doesn't), Fawad Khan having to return home (in which case the women of India will have to go back to swooning over, in his words, Suniel Shetty and Ajay Devgn!), greater ease of access for Sania Mirza between her 'maika' and 'sasuraal'. And of course, a chance for the foes-turned-friends to gossip about their other neighbours, like Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Shaikh also offers an alternative to how the hostilities between the two countries can be put to rest with an epic contest (rather than war) — the highlight of which will be a singing showdown between Taher Shah (of 'Angel' fame) and Himesh Reshammiya.

We must say, that would be an evenly matched contest.
