What we know about the Saif-Kareena wedding so far

Bollywood’s much-awaited wedding is here. The nawab of Pataudi Saif Ali Khan will tie the knot with the daughter of the first family of Bollywood Kareena Kapoor today. The nation seems to be gripped by their wedding fever, while Saif and Kareena have remained silent on their wedding preparations all this while. Here are some unknown facts about the highly publicized, Bollywood’s big wedding: Not a fancy wedding: Unlike the big fat Indian weddings, especially Bollywood weddings, Saif-Kareena will exchange vows in a registered marriage that will take place at Khan’s residence in Mumbai today.  The wedding will be attended only by family members and close friends of the couple. Sachin Gokhale/ Firstpost.[/caption] Wedding celebration not just in Mumbai: The registered marriage will be followed by a ‘nikaah’ on 17 October at Pataudi Palace and later a grand reception will be held on 18 October in Delhi. Designer clothes: Saif will be in traditional attire for his wedding and will be seen wearing a Raghavendra Rathore creation. The actor has apparently opted for a ‘sherwani’ for his big day. Designer and Kareena’s close friend Manish Malhotra claims to have designed Kareena’s wedding trousseau. What she will be wearing is still shrouded in mystery but according to reports , designer Ritu Kumar has restored mother-in-law Sharmila’s wedding gharara for the nikaah. We’ll have to wait and see what the star decides to wear on the big day. The guests: Mother-in-law Sharmila Tagore has invited President Pranab Mukherjee for the wedding but its not known yet if he will attend. Saif’s children from his first marriage, Sara and Ibrahim, have been spotted at the sangeet ceremony and the buzz has it that the two will also attend the wedding. Ex-wife Amrita Singh is not expected though. Gifts: While no one’s saying anything yet, animal activist group PETA is set to present the couple a special gift - a flock of vegan chocolate chickens. “Kareena Kapoor is a vegetarian and refused to eat eggs while filming Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu,” Poorva Joshipura, People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India chief executive officer, said in a statement. “What better occasion than this wedding of the year for PETA to honour Kareena’s compassion and to do our part to get Saif and Kareena off to a deliciously sweet start in their new life together,” Joshipura added. After marriage plans: After becoming the Begum of Pataudi, Kareena will change her surname to Kareena Kapoor Khan. Kareena was reported as saying that if they go for holidaying after their wedding, this would be their 250th honeymoon.
