From the very first scene in SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali, you can tell that you’re in for a 3 hour visual treat. Each frame of the magnum opus, that has now raked close to 600 crore at the worldwide box office, promises of world class visuals. Of course we all know that most of the scenic backgrounds in the film are computer generated but it took us a massive film like Baahubali to understand the power of imagination. [caption id=“attachment_2415150” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] baahubali Screen grab from the video.[/caption] And now, a Youtube video courtesy of Makuta VFX, a Hyderabad-based graphics company, explains how some of out favorite scenes from the film were conceptualized, shot and then made to seem like what they finally appeared in the film. We are shown a breakdown of the first scene, when Ramya Krishnan carried a baby in her palm through the heavy currents of a river, and the multiple scenes of the song between Prabhas and Tammanah, when he climbs steep mountains, and crosses the huge waterfall. We are also shown how the fictional kingdom of Mahishmati was visualised. The best part about the video is that we are shown the plain green-screen shots as well as the final product, all of which is played out with songs of Baahubali in the background. It’s almost like a throwback to the film. Watch the video here:
