Watch: The trailer for 'Imperium' has Daniel Radcliffe battle white supremacists
Daniel Radcliffe, or Harry Potter to millions of Potterheads out there, has played many roles after graduating from Hogwarts. He most recently played the role of a farting zombie corpse in the Sundance film Swiss Army Man that had people walking out of the theater.
The versatile actor, who has built up a huge portfolio of films post his Harry Potter days will now be seen in first time director Daniel Ragussis’ thriller Imperium. Radcliffe stars as Nate Foster, a young, idealistic FBI agent who goes undercover to infiltrate a white supremacist group who are manufacturing a dirt bomb. Watch the star in action below:
The film takes its inspiration from the real-life story of FBI agent Michael German, who helped co-author the script. Also starring in the film are veteran actors Toni Collette and Tracy Letts.
The film continues in the trend of movies dedicated to exploring threats of white supremacists, like the 2015 horror-thriller Green Room and The Purge: Election Year, which provides a very sinister portrait of racial politics in America. Daniel Ragussis, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly said that the more he learned about the topic of supremacists, the more timely and relevant it seemed. “We’re witnessing a surge in far-right groups all across Europe; in some cases they’re nearly winning national elections.”; he said.
The thriller will hit the cinemas on August 19, and we are eagerly awaiting it's release.
