Watch: Prabhu Deva matches steps with his father on dance reality show
Prabhu Deva's father shook a leg with the choreographer on Star Plus show Dance+
Indian TV audiences were recently treated to a rare sight when Prabhu Deva's parents came on the sets of Star Plus show Dance+ and his father even shook a leg with the choreographer. Though the episode aired on television on 4 September, the video has gone viral now.
Prabhu Deva has been entertaining us with his dance moves for decades now, but very few know that his father is also a choreographer. Mugur Sundar is an acclaimed South Indian choreographer who has directed more than 10,000 dance sequences.
Like most people, even Sundar seemed hesitant to dance with Prabhu Deva. However after dancing on his son's Sapnay song 'Chanda re' he agreed to match steps with him on Gandi baat. It surely was a treat to watch the father-son duo dancing together.
Seeing his parents on the show was an extremely emotional moment for Prabhu Deva and he found it hard to find words to express his happiness.
Brimming with happiness, Deva gushed, "I will never be able to forget this date, this programme and this moment."
The proud father went on to talk about his son's debut shoot. Prabhu had accompanied his dad to the shoot of a Mani Ratnam film. Since they fell short of a dancer, they asked Prabhu if he would be the substitute. The shy Prabhu readily agreed. At the end of the shoot, contrary to his expectations the shot was received by a standing ovation.
Speaking in their mother tongue, Kannada, Prabhu Deva's mother Mahadevamma Sundar signed off by blessing all the contestants of the show.
