Watch out! Prince Oberyn actor from 'Game of Thrones' is part of 'Kingsman' sequel
When we last saw him, he was unfortunately a little caught up getting his head crushed in by the Ser Gregor ‘The Mountain’ Clegane, but hopefully Pedro Pascal won’t have quite such an ignominious end in his next onscreen outing.
Pascal — who played the ill-fated Prince Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones — has now been roped in for the sequel to the Colin Firth-Taron Egerton starrer Kingsman.
While not many details have been revealed about the character Pascal will play, there seems to be a general consensus among entertainment websites that he will either be a “friend or foe” to the hero Eggsy. Yes, we can see how that little bit of information is really helpful.
The Kingsman sequel has been in the news ever since Egerton tweeted out an image of a pair of horn-rimmed glasses resting against a white background that referenced the famous Mark Twain quote: “The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated”.
The tweet triggered a frenzy of speculation on whether or not a much-loved character who met their end in the original film might be brought back for the sequel.
While director Matthew Vaughn has — predictably enough — refused to comment on fan speculation over just who the character is that will make a comeback, he did promise several “never-seen-before” sequences in the sequel.
Kingsman 2 is expected to be in theatres by June 2017. In the meantime, news about high profile actors joining the film’s cast — including Halle Berry (who will be on the side of the good guys) and Julianne Moore (playing an all-powerful villainess, and taking on Samuel L. Jackson’s megalomaniac mantle from the first film) has been doing the rounds for a while now.
Pascal, whose turn in Game of Thrones was much appreciated, also played Javier Peña in the Netflix show Narcos.
