“Once upon a time… there was water”

The tagline has you hooked from the word go. So does the interesting cast of Kunal Kapoor, Radhika Apte, Saurabh Shukla and Gulshan Grover. Director Nila Madhab Panda of I am Kalam Fame is back with another movie dealing with an important issue, but with a hilarious twist.

Titled Kaun Kitne Paani Mein, the satirical movie’s 2.33 minute long trailer uploaded on Youtube on Wednesday, starts on an intriguing note with Saurabh Shukla, essaying the role of the Raja of the village trying to auction the village, but in vain.

The reason for there being no takers? The village has no water!

In a witty scene from the trailer which aptly summarize the situation, Shukla lazily gets down from the stairs and announces that he is going to take a bath, “Aaj toh hum snan karenge” he says.

Realising that theere won’t be enough water for his bath, he quickly corrects himself, “Aaj hum kulli karenge.”

The village is also divided on the basis of caste and money, and the other half of the village (divided by a flimsy wall) is ruled by Gulshan Grover. The other half of the village however has abundant water supply which is enough to sustain both the villages.

In order to improve the availability of water in his village, Saurabh Shukla gets his son (played by Kunal Kapoor) to try and woo Grover’s daughter (played by Radhika Apte) and hilarity ensues.

Saurabh Shukla completely owns the trailer with hilarious one-liners and his comic timing while Radhika Apte, who earned rave reviews for her recent performance in Sujoy Ghosh’s short film Ahalya, looks stunning.

The film is slated to hit the theatres later this year.
