Watch: Kajol calls Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani a 'clash of the titans'
There is enough betting going on between two of the biggest films in Decemeber —Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani. Makers of both the films have let all their marketing arsenals loose, and have set aside a big share of their budget to woo the audience to secure their collection on the releasing weekend, 18th December.
Kajol, who is paired with Shah Rukh Khan in Dilwale, is sure that buzz of Bajirao Mastani is not one to be ignored, but she also hopes that audiences across the country would watch both films. "It sounds like the clash of the titans. When they talk about the race to be number one, I feel that there is no race and there is a place for everybody. That’s my exact viewpoint on movies as well. If the whole country decides to watch both the movies, then we both will make 1000 crore," Kajol said in an interview to Firstpost.
Ask her if they will be able to create the same magic that people, who have an eternal hangover of Dilwale Dulhani Le Jayenge, expect from them, she defends the film by saying, "We never think about whether we will be able to create that magic. Whenever we do a scene together it’s very easy, it’s very natural, it’s kind of honest and I think honesty never fails. That’s something that we have, maybe that’s what you call magic," says Kajol.
Ranveer-Deepika and Ranbir-Deepika have become one of the more sought after, on-screen couples in Bollywood. But will they emerge to be as revered a romantic couple as Shah Rukh-Kajol? "I think it will take time for them. We have an onscreen history of 22 years. I hope they do. I am sure a lot of other couples will. Maybe we are lucky that we have done only one film in five years," says Kajol.
Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn had earlier said he will be making a film for Kajol. She reveals that after Dilwale, her next will be with Ajay, the only other superstar she loves to work with. "We [Ajay and I] are doing a film with our home production. We have a script ready and that will probably start rolling in June," says Kajol. They are re-uniting onscreen almost six years after Toonpur Ka Superrhero.
She also reveals that she had asked for a role in Ajay's directorial next Shivay, but she was refused it by Devgn himself. I asked him for a role in Shivay also, but he said, ‘Sorry, I don’t have a role for you’. He categorically told me that. I was very upset. I want to work with Ajay," she says.
