The video of Priyanka Chopra’s latest single, You Can’t Make Me Love You is out and the actress-turned-singer has nailed the damsel in distress act perfectly in this one.

Chopra puts her years of Bollywood experience to good use in the video as she melodramatically bemoans a broken heart and wallows in self-pity after the man she loves (a very hot Milo Ventimiglia) walks out on her.

In the video we see Chopra reminisce about the happy times that they had as a couple. As the video reels into flashback,  we are shown snippets of several happy moments like the one in which Priyanka scribbles her name with a henna cone on Ventimiglia’s back or the one in which the couple dance around on bed in boxer shorts. We also see the happy couple playing with colours in Holi.  However, as the video progresses we see Ventimiglia lose interest in her and eventually after a nasty fight, he takes off leaving her heart-broken.

While we have seen Chopra cry buckets in Hindi films, this is perhaps the first time she has managed to look so crestfallen and so very hot at the same time. With just a tiny drop of glycerine glistening under her perfectly unsmudged kohl lined eyes, she seems like quite a drama queen as she throws a coffee table  and then howls and cries for her lost love in a dark room. However, after all that drama, she finally lets him go in the end as we see her run away from the camera in slow-motion which instantly brings Bollywood tune, La la Lala to your mind.

Bonnie Raitt’s 1991 hit song You Can’t Make Me Love You sounds flat and monotonous in this electro-pop version and while Chopra does her best to power up her voice, neither the pain nor the loneliness that the song should convey comes through.

However, the song has received a warm reception in India, making it to iTunes’ third slot in less than 24 hours of it’s release. Chopra has released two video before this — In My City and Exotic.
