While Bollywood is gearing up for a candyfloss love story about two IIM students with 2 states all set to release this April, there is yet another story of an IIM graduate, Shanmugam Manjunath, that has been made into a film and will hit the screens on 9 May, 2014. A screengrab from the trailer.[/caption] Titled Manjunath, this film directed by Sandeep Varma, recounts the events that culminated in the murder of the marketing manager of Indian Oil Corporation, Shanmugam Manjunath in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur district. Manjunath had sealed two petrol pumps that sold adulterated petroleum. The trailer of the film tells us that Varma has not just dealt with the gruesome murder of Manjunath and his fight with injustice but also tried to incorporate the story of his life before he started working as an IOC officer. In one section of the preview we see Manjunath as a student in IIM Lucknow. We see him as someone who enjoyed sports and music, who can easily make friends and is man of principles and honesty. However, the other section deals with his fight with corruption. With Sanskrit shlokas being chanted in the background, the trailer tells how  bravely and  strongly Manjunath fought with the goons who broke the law and sold adulterated petroleum. The film also covers the repercussion in he nation after Manjunath’s death.  Manjunath has been produced by Viacom18. Watch the trailer of the film here:
