In the age of innovation and maximum use of technology, the entertainment industry is up for a mammoth transformation from its conventional format. A prime example of this change is Voot's upcoming show titled, Stupid Man, Smart Phone which features web-series sensation Sumeet Vyas.

The new show, which is touted to be India's first digital survival series, will introduce audiences to a format where a smartphone and a super network is the only means of survival in the remote, uninhabited and rough terrains of India's wilderness.

Stupid Man, Smart Phone, an official Indian adaptation of the BBC Worldwide format, is the winner of the ‘Best Multi-Platform Format’ at the 2017 International Format Awards in Cannes.

The show will see Vyas along with a celebrity guest travelling across three unforgiving terrains, trying to complete the mission at hand while being aided by their smartphones and their legions of social-media followers. These followers actually are their lifelines in cases of sheer adversity and makes for some crucial interactions throughout the show.

Speaking about his experiences while shooting the series, Vyas says, "Travel, adventure, survival and reality coupled with the idea of a smart phone coming to your rescue - Stupid Man Smart Phone as a format to me was extremely exciting. The show challenged me to push my personal boundaries, be it physical or mental to perform stunts that I would never have thought possible."

Vyas was accompanied by three guests in the first few episodes— Sahil Khattar (Being Indian host), Evelyn Sharma (model and actress) and Karan Kundra (actor and host) — in his wild-survival pursuit.

Khattar says the show was a "crazy ride". He adds, "I found myself uprooted from my comfort zone and facing trials like drinking camel milk, eating cacti and surviving a hot desert which was both difficult and fascinating."

A similar opinion is added by Sharma, who says, "I am a passionate traveler and the show allowed me to explore a terrain that I wouldn’t have dreamed of doing otherwise. I don’t think any amount of training could truly prepare us for what we faced whilst on the journey but it was a fun experience nonetheless."

Kundra has been part of many reality shows in Indian television before, but according to him, this show was completely unique. "This show was life threatening at times, but the beauty of Arunachal Pradesh took my breathe away. I’ve done travel reality shows in the past as well but this show was like none other, especially given that we had a chance to interact with our fans through social media, where we would ask them for assistance, directions and even the most basic survival tips," says the Gumrah host.

The Voot Original series - Vodafone Presents Stupid Man Smart Phone Powered by Motorola - streams live on Voot on 20 September, 2017.
