Actor and entrepreneur Vivek Oberoi recently opened up about his heartbreaking love life, when he lost his girlfriend as she succumbed to acute lymphoblastic leukaemia at the age of 17.

“I thought, ‘This is it. She’s the one.’ I envisioned us going to college together, getting married, and having kids. I had my life planned out in my mind," the Indian Police Force actor told Men’s XP.

“When I couldn’t reach her or her family, I called her cousin, who told me she was in the hospital. I rushed there. We had been in a relationship for 5–6 years, and she was the girl of my dreams. Then, I found out she was in the final stage of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. It was a complete shock. Despite everything we tried, she passed away within two months. I was broken and shattered," he added.

Oberoi tied the knot with Priyanka Alva in 2010 and the couple is blessed with two children. The family lives mostly in Dubai. “My commitment with Priyanka is different. In fourteen years of marriage, I look at her every day and ask myself, ‘Among all the women in the universe, would I still choose her?’ and the answer is yes, I will still choose her. It is the most liberating feeling because you are in it because you want to not because you have to," said the Dum actor.

“She only asks for my time and gets excited whenever she knows we are going out together. Expensive stuff don’t excite her. And this makes you feel the luckiest that all that makes her happy is spending time with you," he added.

Vivek was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s web series Indian Police Force. It also featured Sidharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty and others in prominent roles.
