Viswasam: Nayanthara confirmed to star opposite Ajith in upcoming potboiler; film to release on Diwali weekend
Tamil cinema’s ‘Lady Superstar’ Nayanthara has been confirmed to romance actor Ajith in his upcoming commercial potboiler film, Viswasam
Tamil cinema’s ‘Lady Superstar’ Nayanthara has been confirmed to romance actor Ajith in his upcoming commercial potboiler film, Viswasam. There were reports suggesting that Anushka and Shraddha Srinath were in talks for the film but the makers approached Nayanthara because they knew that her addition will be a big boost for the film at the box office.
Nayanthara and Ajith share a good rapport ever since they acted together in Billa (2007). In fact, Nayanthara has showered praise on Ajith in various interviews. They also share the ideology that a good film should speak for itself and don’t believe in the aggressive promotional strategies.
Forget aggressive promotions, Ajith and Nayanthara have stopped attending press meets long back that people used to call the actress as ‘Lady Ajith’. Nayanthara had previously shared screen space with Ajith in three films including the blockbuster Billa, super hit Arrambam and Aegan (remake of Main Hoon Naa), a dud at the box office.
Though Ajith and Siva had delivered two hit films — Veeram and Vedalam, their third collaboration Vivegam was a commercial failure. “Unlike Vivegam, Viswasam will be completely set in India. Director Siva has written the script with all necessary ingredients to satisfy the masses”, a source tells Firstpost. “Ajith wants Sathya Jyothi Films, the producers of Vivegam, to be happy. He advised director Siva to deliver a sure shot hit for the production house”, added the source.
Siva’s close friend Vetri will be cranking the camera for Viswasam and Tamil cinema’s most wanted editor Ruben is also on board. The final draft of Viswasam is almost ready and Siva will be meeting Ajith by next week for the final narration.
Sources also say that the location hunt and other pre-production works are also progressing in a full swing. As the leading lady has been finalised in Viswasam, fans are now eagerly waiting to know the music composer of the film. Names like Harris, Anirudh, along with a few more are floating around but an official confirmation will be made only after Siva’s next meet with Ajith.
Sathya Jyothi Films had earlier confirmed in their media statement that Viswasam will be a grand Diwali release. Besides Viswasam, Vijay’s untitled magnum opus with director AR Murugadoss and Suriya’s action thriller with director Selvaraghavan are also in the Diwali race.

It’s almost confirmed that Thala Ajith’s next film after Viswasam will be for Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor.
