Vishal Bhardwaj's 'O'Romeo' Trailer Review: Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri share fiery chemistry but Avinash Tiwari steals the show

Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘O’Romeo’ is not Shakespeare. It’s based on true events and unites him with Shahid Kapoor for the fourth time. Unlike the first three collaborations, this character has a lot of swag and style. There’s something nonchalant about him as he’s pulled into the abyss of attraction and destruction, love and lust. Triptii Dimri is a vengeful wife who has some unfinished business. For her, the eponymous character could be both her passion and pawn.

It’s Avinash Tiwari, who steals the show in the trailer with his brooding aura and bulging physicality. He also gets the best lines in the promo that were stolen by the seasoned veteran Farida Jalal in the trailer. And the always dependable Nana Patekar is there too. We then get to see Disha Patani in a song and shaking some moves with Shahid Kapoor. The trailer pales in comparison to the teaser but all eyes on the film.

_O Romeo_ is scheduled to release in theatres on February 13, 2026, strategically targeting the Valentine’s Day weekend. The release date suggests a romantic or emotionally charged core, though the film is expected to retain Bhardwaj’s trademark complexity rather than conform to conventional genre expectations.

The unexpected controversy

The daughter of Hussain Ustara has criticised the makers of the upcoming Shahid Kapoor film O’Romeo, saying the portrayal of her father in the narrative is incorrect and unfair to his legacy.

Sanober Shaikh, Ustara’s daughter, has taken legal steps by issuing a notice to the filmmakers, claiming they have distorted facts in a way that paints her father in a negative light.

Allegations of Misrepresentation

Shaikh has been vocal about her concerns, insisting that the film’s teaser and promotional material appear to depict elements of her father’s life that she says are inaccurate or misleading.

“They are claiming and showing wrong things about my father,” she said, explaining that the family’s objection centres on how Ustara is being characterised. Shaikh added that her father was not a gangster, but instead took on crime figures in ways that she believes have been misrepresented.
