Actor-comedian Vir Das made India prodded after he won the International Emmy Award for his and Netflix’s ‘Vir Das: Landing’, and he shared the award with ‘Derry Girls - Season 3’. In a statement, Das said, “I have immense gratitude, holding the International Emmy for Best Comedy for ‘Vir Das: Landing.’ This one is for my team and for Netflix without whom this wouldn’t have been possible. This journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, and to win this accolade for my fifth special with Netflix feels like a culmination of passion, perseverance, and the undying support of people around the globe who have given so much love to “Vir Das: Landing.” He added, “This award is not just a recognition of my work but a celebration of the diverse stories and voices from India. Stories that make us laugh, reflect, and, most importantly, unite. This one is for India, for Indian comedy and for the community of artists at large.”
In an exclusive conversation with Firstpost’s Lachmi Deb Roy, Vir Das talked about Netflix’s Landing and on being the only comedian with four specials on Netflix. He literally raised the bar as an artist with Landing. Known for not repeating a joke, Vir Das truly knows his craft. Being a socially awkward person, he talks about how his personal and professional life are different and how he is close to his wife and just three other people. He said, “In terms of it being my fourth special with Netflix, _Landing_ has been my most global show. I have done 182 shows across the world. The central theme of the show is the notion of home.”
