Ever since R Madhavan's film with Vijay Sethupathi — Vikram Vedha — has been announced, there's been plenty of excitement surrounding the project.

Considering the subject — that of a tense cop vs villain thriller that is a modern retelling of the Vikram-Betaal story — and the strong casting, fans were eager to see how the film would turn out.

And now, the first look of Vikram Vedha has been shared by Madhavan on social media.

The poster shows a grizzled Madhavan and Vijay locked in a face-off.

"First look poster folks. I am so excited," Madhavan tweeted.

Vikram Vedha is directed by Pushkar and Gayathri with Shraddha Srinath, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Kathir and John Vijay in supporting roles.

It features Madhavan as the cop on the trail of Vijay, a gangster. Madhavan has reportedly undergone extensive weapons training for the part.
