Last week saw two huge releases-Uri and The Accidental Prime Minister, both films centered on singular theme: India. While Vicky Kaushal’s Uri is receiving huge traction, Anupam Kher’s Accidental Prime Minister also made a decent run at the box office. As per Box Office India reports, Uri had a huge a good opening and made an estimated Rs 8-8.25 crore nett. The film received the benefit of a Makar Sankranti release and has been declared a hit with Rs 45 crore so far at the box office. Directed by Aditya Dhar, this war drama has received favorable response. Also starring Yami Gautam, Mohit Raina, Kirti Kulhari and Paresh Rawal, the film’s success is good news for Vicky as this is his first solo release. The report further stated a total estimated box collection of over Rs 50 crores for Uri. Meanwhile, The Accidental Prime Minister grossed a decent Rs 3.25-3.50 crore nett at the end of day one, said the report. However, neither of films can achieve what Simmba has. Simmba’s release wrapped Ranveer Singh’s year on a high note. This Rohit Shetty cop drama is a blockbuster with collection of an envious Rs.226.05 crore at the box office until Monday. But, with the release of Vicky Kaushal-Yami Gautam-starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike , fans have shifted their focus from the film_._ The first blockbuster of the year, Ranveer Singh’s Simmba, is slowing down at the Box Office. The film made an estimated Rs 2.5 crore at the box office on its third Friday, says the website.
#Simmba now eyes ₹ 225 cr in Weekend 3, which should be an easy target to achieve... Much depends on the BO response to the new films [#UriTheSurgicalStrike, #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister] and to what extent they affect #Simmba, especially at multiplexes.
