Cast: Tom Hardy, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach and Stephen Graham
Director: Kelly Marcel
In the post-credit scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home, we saw the makers hinting at the crossover of Marvel antihero Venom aka Eddie Brock an investigative journalist (Tom Hardy) with our superhero Spider-Man (Tom Holland). However, through the multiverse, he is sent back to his universe.
Venom: The Last Dance (The final part of the trilogy) begins with Knull, the creator of the symbiote, ordering monsters to go after Eddie-Venom’s so-called ‘codex’, which is the key to his freedom. And once he is break free he will destroy the universe. Will Knull get the codex? How his monsters will tackle Venom? Well, for that you have to watch Venom 3 on the big screen.
Despite a wafer-thin plot, I can’t deny the fact that it manages to keep you entertained during its runtime of nearly two hours.
The love-hate relationship between Eddie & Venom can be termed as the biggest highlight of the last part as it bids an emotional goodbye to their bond.
Kelly Marcel has managed to hit the right chords with Venom fans articulating the elements and giving an emotional touch, especially in the climax, where we see a montage of Eddie’s moments with Venom.
However, the epicness which was expected being the final part of the trilogy was clearly missing. Also, the sub-plots and characters looked undercooked and made you question why it wasn’t explored to its potential.
Talking about the performances, it’s Tom Hardy show and as expected he hits the ball out of the park with his dual role of defamed journalist Eddie Brock and his alien alter-ego Venom. Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach and Stephen Graham have played their roles well but none of them makes a mark.
The biggest letdown of this emotional conclusion to the trilogy is the lack of Knull Vs Venom face-off.
